Dua for Seeing the Moon
When the new crescent moon (Hilal) is sighted, this Masnoon Dua can be recited. Hazrat Talhah bin Ubaidullah رضي الله عنه narrated that when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saw the crescent moon, he would ask Allah Ta’ala to bring it with blessing, faith, safety and Islam.
Dua in Arabic
اللَّهُمَّ أَهِلَّهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالْيُمْنِ وَالْإِيمَانِ، وَالسَّلَامَةِ وَالْإِسْلَامِ، رَبِّي وَرَبُّكَ اللَّهُ
Roman English
Allahumma ahillahu ‘alayna bil-yumni wal-eemaan, was-salaamati wal-Islaam, rabbee wa rabbuk-Allah.
English Meaning
“O Allah, bring this moon over us with blessing and faith, and with safety and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah.” (Sunnah)
