Dua During Strong Winds


When the wind becomes strong or stormy, this Masnoon Dua should be recited. Hazrat Aishah رضي الله عنها narrated that when the wind blew strongly, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would ask Allah Ta’ala for the good of the wind and the good within it, and seek refuge from its evil. (Sunnah)

Dua in Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا، وَخَيْرَ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا فِيهَا، وَشَرِّ مَا أُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ

Roman English

Allahumma inni as’aluka khayraha, wa khayra maa feeha, wa khayra maa ursilat bihi, wa a‘oodhu bika min sharriha, wa sharri maa feeha, wa sharri maa ursilat bihi.

English Meaning

“O Allah, I ask You for the good of this wind, the good within it, and the good for which it has been sent. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil within it, and the evil for which it has been sent.” (Sunnah)

Reference

This Dua is narrated from Hazrat Aishah رضي الله عنها in Sahih Muslim 899b. A similar narration is also reported in Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3449. The narration mentions that when the wind became stormy, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite this Dua. (Sunnah)
