Dua During Heavy Rain
When the rain becomes very heavy and excessive, especially when there is a fear of harm or difficulty, this Masnoon Dua should be recited. Anas رضي الله عنه narrated that when excessive rain became a difficulty for the people, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicated to Allah to move the rain away from the people and towards the surrounding areas. (Sunnah)
Dua in Arabic
اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ عَلَى الْآكَامِ وَالظِّرَابِ، وَبُطُونِ الْأَوْدِيَةِ، وَمَنَابِتِ الشَّجَرِ
Roman English
Allahumma hawalaynaa wa laa ‘alaynaa, Allahumma ‘alal-aakaami waz-ziraabi, wa butoonil-awdiyati, wa manaabitish-shajar.
English Meaning
“O Allah, let the rain fall around us and not upon us. O Allah, let it fall upon the hills, the hillsides, the valleys and the places where trees grow.” (Sunnah)
Reference
This Dua is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه in Sahih al-Bukhari 1017. A similar narration appears in Sahih al-Bukhari 1015, where the Prophet ﷺ said: “Allahumma hawalayna wa laa ‘alaynaa” when excessive rain became difficult for the people. (Sunnah)
