Dua for the Deceased
When a Muslim passes away, Islam teaches us to make Dua for their forgiveness, mercy and salvation. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught several authentic supplications for the deceased. The following Masnoon Dua is reported in Sahih Muslim and asks Allah Ta’ala to forgive, have mercy upon, pardon and honor the deceased.

“O Allah, forgive him and have mercy upon him, grant him well-being and pardon him. Honor his place of arrival, make his entrance spacious, wash him with water, snow and hail, and cleanse him of sins as You have cleansed the white garment of dirt. Replace his home with a better home, his family with a better family, and his spouse with a better spouse. Admit him into Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.”
