Dua for Afiyah

Afiyah means asking Allah Ta’ala for well-being, safety, protection and freedom from harm in this world and the Hereafter. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ regularly asked Allah for ‘Afiyah in his religion, worldly life, family and wealth, and this Dua was among the supplications he would not leave in the morning and evening. 

Dua in Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي، اللَّهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي، وَاحْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي وَمِنْ فَوْقِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي

Roman English

Allahumma innee as’alukal-‘afwa wal-‘aafiyata fid-dunyaa wal-aakhirah. Allahumma innee as’alukal-‘afwa wal-‘aafiyata fee deenee wa dunyaaya wa ahlee wa maalee. Allahummastur ‘awraatee wa aamin raw‘aatee, wahfaznee min baina yadayya wa min khalfee, wa ‘an yameenee wa ‘an shimaalee wa min fawqee, wa a‘oodhu bi‘azamatika an ughtaala min tahtee.

English Meaning

“O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and calm my fears. Protect me from what is before me, behind me, from my right, from my left and from above me. I seek refuge in Your Greatness from being taken unaware from beneath me.”

Reference

Sunan Abi Dawud 5074 — Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would not leave this supplication in the morning and evening. The narration is graded Sahih by Al-Albani

It is also reported in Sunan Ibn Majah 3871, where the Prophet ﷺ is described as regularly making this Dua in the morning and evening.
