Dua for Guidance
When a person seeks guidance from Allah Ta’ala and wants to remain firm upon the straight path, this beautiful Masnoon Dua should be recited. Hazrat Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to ask Allah Ta’ala for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment.
Dua in Arabic
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى
Roman English
Allahumma inni as’alukal-hudaa, wat-tuqa, wal-‘afaafa, wal-ghinaa.
English Meaning
“O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and contentment.”
Reference
Riyad as-Salihin 1468 — Hazrat Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ used to recite this Dua. It is also reported in Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3489, where Imam al-Tirmidhi graded the narration Hasan Sahih.
