Difference Between Hamd-Naat-Salam and Manqabat
1️⃣ Hamd (حمد)
Meaning: Praise of Allah Almighty only.
It describes Allah’s attributes, power, mercy, and blessings.
Hamd is written only for Allah, not for anyone else.
👉 Example: “Allahu Akbar, Allah is the Greatest.”
2️⃣ Naat (نعت)
Meaning: Praise of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
It includes his character, life, beauty, miracles, and closeness to Allah.
Naat is written only for the Prophet ﷺ.
👉 Example: “O Crown of the Universe, O Beloved of Allah ﷺ.”
3️⃣ Salam (سلام)
Meaning: Sending Salutations & Peace to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Usually recited standing, with deep respect.
It is not just praise, but also a way of presenting Salam in the court of the Prophet ﷺ.
👉 Example: “Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
4️⃣ Manqabat (منقبت)
Meaning: Praise of Saints, Imams, or Awliya Allah (friends of Allah).
Written for great Islamic personalities like Ghaus-e-Azam, Imam Hussain, or other Awliya.
It highlights their spiritual rank, miracles, and service to Islam.
👉 Example: “Ya Ghaus-e-Azam, help us by the mercy of Allah.”
